CAN tackles Osinbajo for denouncing alleged Islamisation agenda of Buhari govt
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has insisted that there is an Islamisation plot by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.
It therefore called on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to stop denying the plot in his quest to douse tension in the country, since he has no facts to work with.
The Christian body was reacting to Osinbajo’s recent statement at a public function where he debunked claims of Islamisation of Nigeria, arguing that no one could possibly do so and lambasted Christian leaders for raising what he said was a false alarm on the issue.
But CAN President, Rev Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, who reacted to Osinbajo’s statement insisted that the plot to Islamise Nigeria is real urging Osinbajo to cross check his facts properly before going public on the issue.
Ayokunle stated this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji. He accused Osinbajo of lacking facts before jumping to conclusion.
According to him, the Vice President’s statement came as a shock to most Christian leaders in Nigeria, many of whom he said, had resorted to the intervention of the leadership of CAN to set the record straight with documented facts showing a plot by the current government to islamise Nigeria.
