Saraki refuses to confront Presidency over illegal extension of NDDC board tenure
The upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly has said it will no longer engage in any future face-off with the executive arm of government.
It said the days of “endless attacks and balderdash are over.”
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, made the position known on Wednesday, when lawmakers considered a motion on the “The illegal extension of the tenure of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)”, sponsored by Senator Emmanuel Paulker from Bayelsa State.
Saraki, who did not allow a debate on the motion, said: “We are not here to always attack the executive. The days of always attacking the executive is over. We must not be involved in acts of balderdash. I suggest that we handle it amicably and allow the relevant committees to meet with the SGF and look at the issue”, he stated.
