Police uncovers N18m, $19,000, 4,000 Saudi Riyal in raid on ex-gov Goje’s house
The Asokoro, Abuja home of a former governor of Gombe State and serving senator, Danjuma Goje, was on Thursday evening raided by police.
It was learnt that the policemen supposedly from the police headquarters, stormed the house of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator representing Gombe Central and ransacked the whole building.
The search of the home of the senator which started at about 5:05pm and lasted for hours, following a tip-off by a whistle-blower, allegedly led to the discovery of N18million; $19,000 and 4,000 Saudi Riyal in the house.
Both Senator Goje and the spokesman of the police, Jimoh Moshood could not be reached we’re yet to react as at the time of filing the report.
Goje is already being prosecuted for allegedly awarding N1billion contract for the supply of dictionaries to secondary schools when he was governor of Gombe State.
The senator was also accused of having paid 85 per cent of the contract sum upfront to the supplier, Real and Integrated Hospitality Company, as against the prescribed 15 per cent as contained in the UBEB guidelines while he was the governor.
