Embattled SGF to face Senators Thursday
Suspended Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal, will on Thursday face the Senate ad-hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North-East.
He is to answer to allegations of corruption against him over the award of N220 million for cutting of grass in Boko Haram ravaged states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe by his company, Rholavision Nigeria Limited.
In a statement issued late Wednesday by the Chairman of the committee, Senator Shehu Sani, the embattled SGF is to appear for the rescheduled investigative hearing at 10am prompt.
The statement was signed by the Clerk of the Adhoc Committee, Lawal Bungudu.
The letter reads: “You may recall that the ad-hoc committee had invited you to appear before it for the second time on Wednesday, 15th March, 2017. The committee has granted your request conveyed in your letter, dated 22nd of March, 2017 and re-rescheduled the meeting.
“By this letter, I am directed to formally invite you to appear before the committee on Thursday, 27th of April, 2017.”
Mr Lawal was suspended last week Wednesday, by President Muhammadu Buhari, following the report of Senate ad-hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North East.
President Buhari subsequently set up a three-man committee, headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to investigate the embattled SGF.
