Hemp traffickers with police uniforms and siren intercepted by NDLEA

Two suspected drug traffickers blaring siren and dressed in police uniform have been arrested in the Nasarawa area of Kano metropolis by men of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while conveying 715 kilograms of Indian Hemp to Yobe.
According to Alhaji Hamza Umar, the Kano State Commandant of NDLEA, the suspects were arrested while blaring siren and pretending to be police officers in a brand new escort vehicle with police colour, siren, pilot plate number and in possession of two police caps.
“During investigation by our officers, we discovered that the suspects were from Edo State, while their destination was Gashua in Yobe State,” Umar said.
Continuing, he added that; “The two suspects who were arrested along with 715 kilograms of Indian hemp disclosed to us that they normally convey such exhibits once a month.
“If those people had succeeded in their mission to their destination, Yobe State, where the issue of insecurity is a major concern, only God knows what would have happened.”
While entertaining questions from newsmen, one of the suspects revealed that he was offered N200,000 to convey the Indian hemp to Gashua but unfortunately he was caught with his accomplice while transporting the contraband.
