Charly Boy storms NNPC office, over persistent fuel scarcity

Social crusader and former President of the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Charles Oputa (also known as Charly Boy) made good his promise to register his displeasure over the lingering fuel crisis when he stormed the premises of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The eccentric entertainer led members of his ‘Our mumu don do movement’ to the Abuja office of NNPC and according to reports; their presence almost disrupted activities at the premises of the oil corporation.
During his visit, Charly Boy who is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainers submitted a letter to NNPC charging the management of the corporation to do everything possible to salvage the situation by making the Premium Motor Spirit available.

“We have been able to submit the letter hoping the management would do the needful. All we are saying is that they should make our lives easier by supplying this product so that people would not go to hell and back to be able to carry on with their daily activities.

The singer, songwriter and television presenter best known for his alternative lifestyle, political views also vowed that should the management fail to provide the product, then the group will storm the headquarters of NNPC again until the product becomes readily available.

“If they don’t, we would come back here ten times stronger and I think they will not like it.
“We are hoping that they will do the right thing and make this product available and accessible to Nigerians, at least to minimize the suffering,” he stressed.

Recall last year that Charly Boy and his group launched the ‘resume or resign’ protests over the continuous stay of President Muhammadu Buhari who was receiving treatment in London at the time.

The group which gathered under the umbrella of a civil organisation, Concerned Nigerians, demanded that President Buhari immediately returned from London or resign his post as the number one citizen of the country if he was not in a healthy condition to lead Nigeria.
