Salah double can’t help Liverpool win as Kane sets record with Spurs
Reigning African Footballer and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah grabbed a brace in Sunday’s encounter against Tottenham, but the goals were not enough to earn his side a victory.
A last-minute penalty converted by Harry Kane helped Spurs snatch a point from the game that ended 2-2 at Anfield.
Kane, who earlier missed a penalty while the game was still 1-1, scored with virtually the last kick of the game to become the first Tottenham player to reach 100 goals in the Premier League.
In the third minute, Salah put Liverpool ahead after he intercepted Eric Dier’s poor back pass.
The goal by the Egyptian star was Liverpool’s quickest goal in the Premier League since April 2016, when Daniel Sturridge scored inside two minutes against Newcastle United
The Reds then held to the lead until 10 minutes from time when Spurs substitute Victor Wanyama lashed keeper Loris Karius’ punched clearance back into the top corner from 25 yards.
Salah then netted his 21st goal in 25 games in the league one minute into stoppage time, before Kane levelled after Virgil van Dijk collided with Erik Lamela in the box.
Liverpool remain third in the Premier League table, two points ahead of Tottenham in fifth.
