‘Best way to finish the first round’, Suarez relishes performance at Anoeta

Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez has hailed his Barcelona teammates for not letting their heads drop at Real Sociedad as he termed their 4-2 victory the “best way to finish the first round.”

Suarez scored twice to inspire Barca, who had gone 2-0 down in the first half, to a stunning comeback as they ultimately picked up their first League victory at Anoeta in 11 years.

William Jose and Juanmi had put the hosts on a comfortable lead when Paulinho slid in Suarez’s cross to pull one back, before a double from Suarez and a late goal by Lionel Messi turned the table around.

“We knew how to recover from a negative situation and registered another victory in the League at a ground that has always been difficult for us,” Suarez said after the game.

“We want to keep going like this. The best way to finish the first round of a season is to come back, and our heads didn’t drop.

“They had a very good first half, pressing up and scoring their goals. Luckily we managed to cut the deficit before half-time.

“Then, in the second half, we corrected our mistakes, played with confidence and got the victory.

“I always try to help the team. The most important thing is that we keep rowing on the same boat together.”

Meanwhile, after Manchester City lost to Liverpool earlier on Sunday, Barcelona are now the only side yet to lose in Europe’s top leagues this season.

And with the result, theleaders are 9 points above second-placed Atletico Madrid and 19 points above champions Real Madrid who are on fourth spot in the table.
