KILLINGS: After meeting Saraki, Dogara, Buhari meets Benue leaders behind closed doors
Following the gruesome murder of several Innocent victims in Benue State, as a result of clashes between farmers and herdsmen, President Muhammadu Buhari has held meetings with some political leaders ostensibly to fashion out a lasting solution to the persistent crisis.
The president met Sunday night with Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakub Dogara on the security situation in Benue and other parts of the country.
Later the next day (Monday) Buhari also met with the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, as well as other political and traditional leaders from the state.
They include the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty Prof. James Ortese Orzua Ayatse, former Senate President, David Mark, former governor, Senator George Akume and Senator Barnabas Gemade.
Others include Senator JK Waku, Lawrence Onoja, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Micheal Aondoakaa, the State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu, the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Terkimbir Kyambe, members of the National and State Assembly from the State as well as members of the State Traditional Rulers.
From the government side are the President himself, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari, Director General, Department of State Services, Lawan Daura, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Minister of Interior, Ibrahim Danbazzau and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
