NASARAWA: Herdsmen hack 32 villagers to death
A coordinated attack at various locations across the southern senatorial district of Nasarawa State by suspected herdsmen has left no less than 32 Tiv villagers dead.
Reports say the simultaneous attacks which took place on Saturday and Sunday in Awe, Keana, Obi and Doma local government areas of the state, also left no less than 19 other victims with injuries.
According to Gabriel Akaaka, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, the herdsmen invaded the houses of the villagers torching their homes and killing many in sight.

Mr Akaaka said, “It is true the gunmen believed to be Fulani herders raided my house this morning and set it ablaze.
“The Tiv villagers are stranded. I have just spoken to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Bello, to deploy his security personnel and security operatives in the state to the area in order to rescue the villagers.”
The killings were confirmed by DSP Kennedy Idirisu, the Police Public Relations Officer said the command jus got information about the attack.
The PPRO said, “There was an attack on Monday morning, but the command has yet to receive details as regards the number of people that lost their lives in the early hour attacks by unknown gunmen.”
