40-yr-old man arraigned, docked for defiling 3 minors

A Katsina State Magistrates’ Court played host to a case of a 40-year-old man who allegedly raped three pupils of the Sallau Primary School, located at Malumfashi area of the state.

Reports say the suspect identified as Abdullahi Umar, a labourer residing at Dan’rimi Quarters, Malumfashi, Katsina was reported to the police by the headmaster of the school Umar Mohammed who tabled a complaint against the suspect on the 10th of April.

According to the headmaster, the suspect who was slammed with a one-count charge of rape contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code, allegedly lured three pupils of the school with money, to have sexual intercourse with them in his house.

During court proceedings, the Police Prosecutor Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation into the matter involving the suspect is still ongoing.

The police also revealed that Umar had committed a similar offence in April, 2015 and was on bail when he committed the offence for which he was arraigned in court.

The case was however adjourned to a later date by the magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, who ordered that Umar be remanded in prison.
