N550M FRAUD: Ex-FCT Minister Bala to remain in Kuje prison until
Former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Bala Mohammed, has been asked to remain in Kuje Maximum Prison over alleged N550million fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The commission arraigned Mohammed on a six-count charge bordering on abuse of office while he served as Minister of the FCT.
The EFCC further told the High Court of the FCT that the former minister while he was in office allegedly collected gratification to the tune of N550million and that he failed to declare properties belonging to him.
While the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and filed an application for bail, the presiding judge, Abubakar Talba, after hearing the bail application adjourned the matter till May 12 for ruling on it.
Following that decision, the defendant was ordered to be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of his bail application.
