North Korea detains another American citizen amid tension
Pyongyang seems not to be relenting on its hounding of its enemies after another American citizen was arrested by authorities in North Korea for allegedly engaging in acts of hostility aimed at overthrowing the country.
Reports say, the Korean-American citizen, Kim Sang Dok, 58, an accounting instructor at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, was “intercepted” at Pyongyang International Airport on April 22.
Korean Central News Agency said Dok was being detained while authorities conduct a detailed investigation into his alleged crime.
Last week, another US citizen was arrested by cops in the North as he attempted to take a flight out of the country reports say.
His arrest was confirmed by the Swedish embassy in North Korea which revealed that the Korean-American citizen was arrested at the Pyongyang airport while attempting to take a flight out of the country and later detained.
Other U.S. citizens detained by North Korea include Otto Warmbier, serving a 15-year prison term with hard labor for alleged anti-state acts, and Kim Dong Chul, serving a 10-year term with hard labor for alleged espionage.
