DEFECTION TO APC: Where is your honour? Fani-Kayode asks Obanikoro

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed dismay over news of ex-Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro’s defection to the All Progressives Congress.

Fani-Kayode who said Obanikoro’s decision to join the APC irks and saddens him queried, “(Obanikoro) Where is your honour? Where is your strength? Where is your dignity? Where is your self-respect? Where is your sense of self-worth?”

The former Aviation Minister’s reaction came following reports that Obanikoro has finalised his plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC.

It was learnt that already, a leader of the ruling party, Bola Tinubu has already accepted Obanikoro’s decision to join the APC.

But in his reaction to this event Fani-Kayode said, “My brother, Musiliu Obanikoro’s decision to join the APC irks and saddens me. I say this because I have always loved him and I care. You cannot fight evil by joining it. You cannot bring light by entering the darkness. You cannot find joy by partaking in the bread of sorrows.

“You cannot run away in the heat of battle. You must have the courage of your convictions. Where is your honour? Where is your strength? Where is your dignity? Where is your self-respect? Where is your sense of self-worth?

“You and I are royalty. We are princes and kings and children of the living God. We were taught and brought up to fight to the end and never to bow to the enemy.”

Obanikoro is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving about N4.7billion from the office of the National Security Adviser.

He was said to have entered into plea bargain with the commission and has made some refunds.

Meanwhile, political critics are already suggesting that his alleged decision to join APC is not unconnected with his corruption case and a bid to avoid prosecution.
