Abia gov tussle not over as Ikpeazu returns to Supreme Court May 22

Abia State’s Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will again return to the Supreme Court in yet another case over tax forgery instituted against him by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Sir Friday Nwosu.
The governor had last week emerged victorious in a similar case involving Uchechukwu Ogah, who was once declared as the governor of the state by an Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang, before the rulings of the Appeal Court apex courts annulled the lower court judgment.
However, the governor will again return to the court room as the Supreme Court has fixed May 22, 2017, to hear the tax forgery suit filed against him by Nwosu.
Nwosu was among the aspirants that contested the PDP governorship primaries in the state.
He told the court that Ikpeazu submitted false information and tax documents to his party and asked the court to disqualify him.
On March 29, 2017, the suit with the number SC/1046/ 2016 came up for mention but Dr. Paul Ananaba (SAN), counsel to PDP, argued that the party was not served with the relevant court processes and applied for adjournment.
The matter was then adjourned to June 6, 2017 for hearing.
But the PDP, it was later learnt, filed a notice denying that neither Dr. Paul Ananaba nor Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN) was its lawyer.
Nwosu and the PDP also filed separate motions urging the court to bring up the matter for hearing before May 12, 2017, but the Supreme Court fixed the matter for hearing for May 22, 2017.
The party is said to have also filed a notice of intention to withdraw from the case and not to defend any of the parties in the matter and urged the court to serve justice on the matter.
