Iwobi confident Arsenal will reach final, and win title for Wenger
Super Eagles and Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi believes Arsenal can reach the final of the Europa League despite being held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their semifinal encounter with Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners will play away to the Spanish side this Thursday with the hope of sealing a victory in order to make it to the final.
The Premier League giants are currently sixth on the Premier League table, thus only a Europa League victory would ensure their spot in next season’s Champions League.
“We are very confident. We were unfortunate not to get the result we wanted against them in the first leg, but we are very confident and believe we can go to the final,” Iwobi told Sky Sports.
Iwobi also revealed that himself and his teammates are bent on giving their manager, Arsene Wenger, a perfect send-off by winning the Europa League title.
“We are really motivated – especially by what he (Wenger) has done for the club.
“We are trying to make him end the season on a high. And not just for him but for ourselves as well, so we are doing our best to get the result,” stated Iwobi.
The other semifinal clash is between France’s Olympic Marseille and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg, but the French side are 2-0 up from the first leg of the tie.
The Europa final will be played in Lyon, France on May 16.
