ADAMAWA BOMB BLAST: Buhari offers condolences as over 60 people killed

President Muhammadu Buhari has offered his condolences to the Adamawa State government over the attack on Mubi town on Tuesday that left no less than 60 persons dead.

A twin bomb blast hit a mosque and nearby market in Mubi, Adamawa State, with initial eyewitness report claiming that at least 42 persons were killed.

Although Adamawa State Police Command confirmed 24 dead with many others critically injured, latest reports from the state monitored by Ripples Nigeria showed that at least 60 persons died following the twin blasts.

The last was said to hit the popular Gwonjo Market, where second-hand clothes are sold, and a mosque about 20 meters away at about 1:30pm.

Responding in a statement on his official Twitter page, President Buhari regretted the attack and described it as “tragic” and “despicable”.

He wrote, “Today’s (Tuesday’s) suicide bomb attacks in Mubi, Adamawa State, targeting a Mosque and Market, are tragic and despicable.

“Our sympathies go to the victims, their families, the Govt and people of Adamawa. Our special gratitude to all the rescue workers and medical personnel who attended to victims.”
