APWB Forum To Address Nigeria’s Economic Woes
Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB) has concluded plans to host its 2017 corporate forum and annual dinner aimed at identifying measures to solve economic challenges in the country.
The forum, which is slated for Thursday, October 26, 2017 with the theme, ‘Path to economic recovery and restoration’, is designed to proffer solutions to issues bedeviling the nation’s economy and enhance business growth.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Chairperson, 2017 Dinner committee, Mrs Yvonne Isichei, said the event is an avenue for the exchange of information and ideas among members on common problems and matters of mutual interest affecting the banking industry.
Mrs Isichei who was represented by the 1st Vice Secretary, APWB, Adeola Osho, disclosed that he Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun will be the Distinguished Guest of Honor, while Dean of Lagos Business School (LBS), Dr. Enase Okonedo as the guest speaker alongside other delegation of speakers and special invitees.
“This year’s dinner promises to be rewarding and will surely provide a great networking opportunity to members and mind opening strategies that can enhance business growth,” she said.
In her remarks, Chairperson, APWB, Mercy Oluwatoyin Ojo, said the association seeks to explore ideas, gain knowledge and opportunities using the culture of integrity, transparency, accountability, high ethical value and professionalism to drive its course.
As part of its corporate social responsibilities, Ojo said the association has carried out several mentorship programmes, seminars and career counseling in secondary schools across the state as a way of contributing its quota to the economic development of the nation.
She noted that the association has also been engaging the general public on financial literacy, promoting financial inclusion among the banked and unbanked.
