27-yr-old father of three lands in court for raping 10-yr-old neighbour

A father of three children identified as David Charles, 27, pleaded not guilty to a one count charge of defilement after he was paraded at an Ikeja Magistrate Court, for raping the 10-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

While addressing the court, Simeon Imhonwa, the police prosecutor, said the suspect did unlawfully defile the victim offence on April 24 at No. Aina Street, Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos.

Imhonwa said the suspect thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

However, Charles denied defiling the girl in his confessional statement that stating that he didn’t penetrate the little girl, but only caressed her vagina with his fingers.

The suspect while recounting the incident, said the girl came to collect a chilled sachet water from his fridge but instead asked to watch pornography on his mobile phone.

Charles said: “The incident happened sometime in April when a neighbour’s 10 years old daughter, came into my room at noon to collect cold water from my fridge. When she came in, she sat on my chair and instead of collecting the sachet water, requested to watch sex movies on my phone.

“I didn’t have sex with her either with my manhood or finger. I only touched her vagina while her pant was still on and I never removed her pants. Now, she’s lying against me.”

According to Ada, the victims elder sister who accused Charles of defiling her sister four times in his room, she noticed an unusual enlargement of her younger sister’s private part when she was bathing her and later reported the matter to the Lagos State Police Command Ikeja.

Ada said; “I discovered my sister had been deflowered when I noticed her private had enlarged more than usual. When I questioned her, she opened up that Charles had sexual intercourse with her four times inside his room and used his hands to cover her mouth while penetrating her vagina.

“My sister told me that she couldn’t tell anybody because Charles warned her not to disclose it. She also told me that he usually sleeps with her whenever our mother tells her to go and collect sachet water from his room.”
