ANAMBRA 2017: ‘Illegality & injustice’ of PDP primary will be challenged in court- Ubah

The Chairman of Capital Oil and a governorship aspirant at the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Ubah, has announced his decision to approach the courts to determine the party’s authentic candidate for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

Briefing the press in Abuja on Tuesday, Ubah insisted that Oseloka Obaze did not emerge through a transparent, free and fair primary process.

He went on to allege that the primary was a fraudulent exercise, describing the outcome as a sham.
Ubah said, “I will be approaching the court to determine the legality or otherwise of the PDP primary in the state.

“The election is fraudulent and it is illegal. However, we will allow the court to determine whether the party has the right to trample on its own constitution and the Electoral Act.

“The list of delegates used for the election was different from the list of delegates given to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“The commission supervised delegates’ election and the party submitted the names of the delegates. But my party manufactured new names and list a day to the primary”.

The businessman said his love for the party could not be questioned as he had been loyal consistently even in bad times.

Ubah described the Anambra governorship primary as “a show of shame as it was marred by obvious irregularities, leaving little to be desired and more questions than answers from the relevant authorities and party officials.”

He accused the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and some other members of the PDP of sabotaging the process and denying party members their legitimate choice.

“In the quest for justice, I submit myself to fight this illegality and injustice for my sake as well as that of anyone who aspires to contest on the party’s platform and I hope that justice will prevail in the end”, Ubah said.
