U-20 WCQ: Falconets will win Tanzania ‘convincingly’ –Coach

Assistant coach of the U-20 women’s football team, Mansur Abdullahi, is confident the Falconets will win convincingly in their World Cup qualifier against Tanzania.

The game, to be played in Benin City on Saturday, is Nigeria’s opening qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Abdullahi however admitted that the Tanzanians will be a hard nut to crack and warned his side to respect their opponent.

“Being the favourite could make it tough for us and the Tanzanians have nothing to lose,” Mansur told nwfl.com.ng

“Winning convincingly is very important and that is what we are looking forward to in Saturday’s game but we should expect a tough test from Tanzania.
“Fans will be expecting a massacre but we will be wrong if we think the Tanzanians will be an easy team to ride over.

“I believe we will win convincingly but we must show humility and respect for our opponent. Everybody in the camp is ready; it’s a collective battle and it will be a victorious one for us by God’s grace.”

Meanwhile, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has promised to waive gate fee for supporters expected to throng the the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for the encounter.

However, access to the State Box and the State Box Extension would be strictly by invitation, according to the women football arm of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The second leg of the first round qualifier will take place in Dar es Salaam on 30th September, with the winner on aggregate to tackle the winner of the Morocco/Senegal in the second round coming up in November.
