Second refusal to approve Magu EFCC boss, a national disgrace –Ezekwesili
Co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls movement and erstwhile Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has described as a national disgrace the second time refusal of the Nigerian Senate to confirm Ibrahim Magu as a substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Ezekwesili stated this in series of tweets on her twitter handle as soon as the Senate led by Senate President Bukola Saraki refused to approve Magu’s re-nomination.
She called on the presidency to explain to Nigerians why the President who is privy to the DSS report should re-nominate Magu to the Senate for approval as the EFCC chairman.
“Finally, for all our politicians, there is a scripture by Apostle Paul that says, ‘God is not mocked’.
“Citizens, we ignore necessity for an effective anti-corruption war at our peril. Corruption kills,” she said.
Ezekwesili wondered if President Buhari will be able to dig out anti-corruption war, which according to her, he has succeeded in submerging into “a credibility deficit hole.”
She added, “A government that campaigned on anti-corruption is making a mockery of its war. Pitiful!
“Between presidency of Buhari and the Nigeria Senate led by Bukola Saraki, whatever game is being played with EFCC is a national disgrace.
“I tweeted extensively on this issue when Nigeria Senate first rejected EFCC Magu. For 2nd one, I’ve tweeted Bible verses for Senators.
“Presidency should explain to citizens why President Buhari who is privy to DSS report on Magu, re-nominated him to the Senate”, she stated.
